Taking pictures with film teaches you to be deliberate. To be anxious. To be patient. Once you compose and take the picture, you have to wait until the film roll is finished to see the end product. You cannot see what you have captured, you cannot delete it either.
This kind of delayed gratification makes film the best tool to appreciate photography, in my humble opinion. We have this old [and I do mean OLD] Chinon Camera. Here is a sampling of our delayed gratification:
